Past and present

From its foundation in 1973 until 1990 ALUCOM AD supplied aluminum castings for the military, engine trucks and the machine-building industry in Bulgaria and the countries of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (CMEA). During this period, the company produced 1000 tons of aluminum castings every month. After the political and economical changes in Bulgaria in the early 1990s, it lost a great part of these markets. Since then it has faced the competitive conditions in the European market, yet succeeded in establishing its stable position. Nowadays ALUCOM AD has steady relations with customers of many years' standing from Germany, Great Britain, Austria, Italy and Belgium, and 60% of its production is exported.

In the last 2-3 years there has been increasing interest from European companies in the products of ALUCOM AD.

  ALUCOM AD is situated in the city of Pleven, which is 160 km away from the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia.

  Quality certificate EN ISO 9001 : 2000 No. 368088/11.09.2002 issued by Lloyd's Register Sofia.
  Quality certificate ISO/TS 16949 : 2002 No. 368088/03.08.2004 issued by Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance Coventry.

  Production

  Thanks to the use of three methods for the production of aluminum castings: counter-pressure, low-pressure and high-pressure - ALUCOM AD is able to meet the needs of its customers for a large range of aluminum cast parts. The foundry has the capacity to produce parts of different construction: of weight from a couple of grams up to more than 150 kg; of dimensions up to 1500 mm in diameter according to customer's drawings, specifications, 3D-models and samples.

  The parameters of the parts that can be produced by ALUCOM AD using the counter- and low-pressure casting methods are:

  Diameter - up to 1500 mm
  Height - up to 500 mm
  Weight - up to more than 150 kg
  Wall thickness - minumum 5 mm

  The parameters of the parts that can be produced by ALUCOM AD using the high-pressure casting method are:

  Diameter - up to 500 mm
  Height - up to 500 mm
  Weight - up to 8 kg

  One of ALUCOM AD's considerable advantages is the closed production cycle within the company. Besides casting capacity ALUCOM AD also has technological capability for the production of casting tooling and moulds, as well as for complete machining, heat-treatment, galvanizing and painting of the aluminum parts.

  The aluminum parts produced by ALUCOM AD have their application in the automotive, military, electronic, electric, machine-building, hydraulic, textile and food industries as well as many other industries.
